What are three Hitma engineers doing at the Christmas market in Mannheim?

Shopping is generally not my most popular pastime. And visiting a Christmas market in Germany is mostly at my wife's initiative. Nevertheless, last week I visited the Christmas market in Mannheim with my colleagues. You might be wondering how on earth three men end up at a Christmas market? Let me explain.

Ready for the future with new sizing software
Dick, Carlo and I were guests in Mannheim at the invitation of Bopp & Reuther (B&R). This supplier introduced a new sizing programme for their safety valves, called Si-tech 4.0. With this update, their software is ready for the future. And so are we, because together with valve specialists from all over the world, we received extensive training. The new sizing programme no longer holds any secrets for us. We can perfectly design safety valves that meet the specific requirements of industrial processes.

Glühwein
A training course in Germany, at Christmas time and a hotel right in the city centre. So then you can't ignore the Christmas market on the square. In fact, when I opened the curtains of my hotel room, the Christmas lights were shining on me. Ah, a little German ‘gemütlichheid’ in this dark time can't hurt. So after a tiring day of training, we sought out the Christmas cheer and invariably ordered a glass of mulled wine at the Christmas market.

Changes at Bopp & Reuther
It was an intense week of training at Bopp & Reuther. As such, quite a lot has changed at the company. Bopp & Reuter is now part of IMI Critical Engineering, a global group that designs and manufactures industrial process components. IMI employs more than 12,000 people in over 20 countries. This change is reflected in all Bopp & Reuther's expressions and in the innovations they are picking up, such as the Si-tech software 4.0.

What's new about the Si-tech software?
What exactly is new about the Si-tech software? Firstly, the package has a more modern look and feel. More in line with common software packages. This makes the software more user-friendly. In addition, it is now easier to create projects. The latest industry standards have also been incorporated into the programme and the calculation sheet is more extensive and clearer.

Clear data sheets
The engineers of Bopp & Reuther and of their distributors (including, therefore, Hitma Process) will start working with the new software from now on. For end users, the software will be available next year. Our customers will then be able to calculate which valves they need themselves. They will be able to create data sheets that will come in handy for internal discussions or communication with the supplier. We will of course continue to do the final sizing for the customer.

Renewed type coding of Bopp & Reuther safety valves
Besides the updated software, the type coding of Bopp & Reuther valves has also changed. The coding is clearer and the separate codes for DIN valves etc. have disappeared. There is now more uniformity. The serial and type numbers of all valve models have the same recognisable structure.

Documentation
To provide the market with an overview of the new type coding of Bopp & Reuther valves, IMI Bopp & Reuther has compiled new brochures. Would you also like to have this documentation on your shelves? Let me know and I will make sure the documentation comes your way.
